Savills have already had discussions with several hundred potential customers about the Royal Albert Dock, while ABP has received letters of intent from 60 companies from China wishing to locate their European Headquarters in the development.

They have all recognised that the Royal Albert Dock will realise its potential as London’s next premier business location.

The Mayor of London and the London Borough of Newham actively want to encourage inward investment into the area so the Royal Docks was granted Enterprise Zone status in April 2012 in recognition of its strategic importance. Specific benefits include:

  1. Business rate relief (if occupying premises in the area by 31st March 2018) for five years from the date of arrival
  2. Business rate uplift retention for 25 years
  3. Enhanced capital allowances at Royal Albert Dock (up to 31st March 2020) – good for capital intense industry e.g. biotech. The Enhanced Capital Allowance (ECA) scheme enables businesses to claim tax relief on investments in certain energy saving equipment, against the taxable profits of the period of investment).
  4. Simplified planning – combined authority (Local Planning Authority / Greater London Authority / Transport for London / Developer) Project Planning Performance Agreement
  5. Green Enterprise District status: a cutting-edge approach to investment in green technology, enterprise and infrastructure
  6. Superfast Broadband – part of a successful £25m Urban Broadband Fund bid (possible to get up to 1gb/ps where demand is registered through business application)
