14 Nov China-UK Business Forum and ABP International Alliance China-UK (Southern Yangtze) Investment Forum successfully held in Beijing
On November 14, the ABP International Alliance China-UK (Southern Yangtze) Investment Forum was held at the Maya International Conference Centre in ABP Beijing. The forum was the first China-UK investment exchange activity organised by the Alliance since its establishment in September this year. The summit was attended by 300 business leaders and government officials from both countries.
In the forum, it was announced that the ABP International Alliance (China) and ABP International Alliance (Southern Yangtze, China) were formally established, which marked the substantial progress that the ABPIA has made to promote global business trade and investment growth in China. This will further enhance the cooperation between UK and Chinese enterprises, as well as facilitate the creation of Global Headquarters Economy Community. Other programme on the day included a signing ceremony for potential buyers of ABP London, an opening ceremony and a signing ceremony for the Southern Yangtze Investment Alliance.
At 3pm, six UK government officials including Eric Pickles, Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, Sir Michael Bear, Chairman of Regeneration Investment Organisation, UK Trade and Investment, Peter Schofield, Director-General for Neighborhoods, Department for Communities and Local Government arrived at ABP Beijing, and had a group photo with participants from China at the gate of International Conference Centre. After that, Eric Pickles and Sir Michael Bear had a site tour around ABP Beijing and visited a company occupier—Global China Group Limited, together with officials from Beijing Fengtai District Government and Xu Weiping, Founding Chairman of ABPIA and Chairman of ABP Global Holdings Group.
In the meantime, Peter Schofield, Director-General for Neighborhoods, Department for Communities and Local Government delivered a keynote speech about the Enterprise Zone at the China-UK Business Forum held at Maya International Conference Centre. He introduced the investment opportunities in UK Enterprise Zone which aims to attract investments from Chinese enterprises. In the question and answer session that follows, the delegates from Chinese Enterprises asked about the policies and challenges of investing in UK.
After the forum, the ceremony formally opens. The ABP projects in Beijing, London and Southern Yangtze were presented in three short films. Officials from Fengtai District Government, Eric Pickles, Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, Sir Michael Bear, Chairman of Regeneration Investment Organisation, UK Trade and Investment, Zhang Weifen, Chairman of Haining People’s Political Consultative Conference, Zhejiang Province, gave their speeches. They all spoke highly of the achievements of ABP and wished an even brighter future for ABPIA which further strengthens the cooperation between China and UK.
After the speeches, Xu Weiping formally announced the establishment of ABP International Alliance (China), followed by an appointment ceremony for senior management and a certification Ceremony for ABP International Alliance (Southern Yangtze, China) signifying the Alliance’s growing presence in China since its establishment in the UK. A signing ceremony for potential buyers of ABP London was also held.
Another important announcement is the establishment of Southern Yangtze Investment Alliance—a platform covering both industrial and financial industries. A plague was unveiled by Eric Pickles, Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government and Zhang Weifen, Chairman of Haining People’s Political Consultative Conference, Zhejiang Province, celebrating the formal establishment of Southern Yangtze Investment Alliance. A signing ceremony was then held with the investors who will join hands with ABP to develop the ABP Southern Yangtze project and work towards a mutually beneficial partnership.
Xu Weiping concluded the ceremony with a thank-you speech and expressed his gratitude to all the business partners for their long-term support to ABP. ABP will continue its innovative approach and make progress as it grows. In the end, Xu Weiping and Eric Pickles exchanged presents.
At 5:30pm, dinner started. The ABP International Alliance China-UK (Southern Yangtze) Investment Forum concluded in a toast proposed by Eric Pickles.
